Tim is still exploring his 2006 case of toys and novelties, and has found three unusual objects, all made from wood.

First, a wooden sphere that has been made in such a way that one half consists of a lighter wood - lighter in colour as well as in weight - the other half of a heavier wood, which is also darker in colour. The difference in weight causes the sphere to act as a Tippe Top, the difference in colour means that it is easy to see what is happening. Tim spins it with the heavy side down, but once it gets going, it inverts, and you can see that the darker side is now uppermost.

Then Tim demonstrates a Hexasphericon, which can roll around a bit like a sphere, but along its own meandering path. It has a single continuous surface that makes it roll along a very curious wobbly path.

FInally, a Sphericon, also made of wood. This unusual object, when rolled on a flat surface, brings all the points of its surface into contact with the surface it is rolling on.
