Effects of Primer Weight Sorting

In summary, results show that there is a linear correlation between primer weight and velocity - higher primer weight, faster velocity. This is likely due to variations in compound volume and weight. There appears to be an ideal weight in terms of reliable ignition resulting in smaller standard deviations and extreme spreads. The primer manufacturer appears to set their typical compound volume to what is the most reliable ignition. Shooters looking to have the most reliable ignition should weight sort their primers and assess for the ideal primer weight to their application.
