Dailekh is a hilly district in Karnali Province of mid-western Nepal. The archaeological remains and inscriptions found in Dailekh reveals its connection with the ancient Khasa (Malla) kingdom of Nepal. Many old temples of religious significance can also be found in this region.

Popular attractions of Dailekh are Pancha Koshi pilgrimage site, one of the Shakti Peeth shrines. Sati’s feet are said to have fallen from her immolated body. The shrine is highly revered by the locals as well as visitors. Shristhan, Navisthan, Paduka and Dharaleshwar fall under the Pancha Koshi site. Bhurti complex, a collection of 22 temple monuments dedicated to Bhurti, constructed in dry stone masonry, a style unique to the region. This complex is also a part of the tentative UNESCO WHS. Other important sites in this area are: Kotgadhi and Bhairavi Kunda.

The district has access to the Karnali Highway (Surkhet-Jumla) which is currently being upgraded to bituminous standard by DOR. The DOR is also currently upgrading a 67 km feeder road between the district headquarters and Surkhet to bituminous standard. Mid-Hill highway is under construction. It will run almost parallel to the Karnali Highway and link to the district headquarters.
