Hair transplantation or hair restoration surgeries are done to cover the balding areas in advanced stages of androgenetic alopecia. The two main techniques of hair transplant include FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction or FUT or Follicular Unit Transplant. In FUT a width of about 1.2 to 1.5cms strip of hail s take off from the donor area and implanted into the balding area, the disadvantage of this being the presence of surgical scar increased risk of bleeding post operative pain as well as a greater healing time. In FUE the grafts are extracted as individual follicular units by using micropouches of about 06 to 0.8 mm in size. The advantages of this being the patient can sport shorter hair. There is less or relatively no pain, as well as body hair can e taken in patients who have a very poor door area.
