Akpabio, Obi, Umeh, Others Bid Farewell To Late Sen Annie Okonkwo

Senate President - Godswill Akpabio, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last general election - Mr Peter Obi and the Senator representing Anambra Central - Senator Dr. Victor Umeh on Wednesday bade farewell to Senator Annie Okonkwo, who represented Anambra Central senatorial zone in the Senate between 2007 and 2011.

The funeral mass held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ojoto, also attracted the governors of Anambra and Abia, serving and non-serving senators from the state and outside the state, among others.

Senator Victor Umeh, in his condolence message described Sen Okonkwo as a great man who served both God and Humanity in His lifetime.

He said: “Sen. Annie Okonkwo was a Consummate Politician and a Successful Businessman. He had a very tenacious spirit in pursuit of the things he believed in, and never accepted any Challenge as insurmountable.

“He had a rare positive attitude to all things, and was a compassionate personality. He impacted so many lives and left a Legacy of Love and affection towards other people. We shall miss him in Anambra State, Igboland, and Nigeria as a whole.”

Senator Umeh prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
