Описание к видео AUSTRIA: Highline179 Bridge & Ehrenberg Castle, Tirol 4K

In 2014, the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge, Highline179, was completed between the Ehrenberg Castle ruins and Fort Claudia, spanning the strategically important pass that these two structures were in part meant to guard. It's located near Reutte and accessed from the B179 road (also known as the Fernpassstrasse), in Tirol, Austria.

The Highline179 Bridge can carry up to 500 persons at a time - and this also at wind speeds of up to 60 km/hr. The bridge stretches directly above the federal road B179 - after which it is named. The length of the bridge is 406 meters (1332 feet), with a height of 114,6 meters (3760 feet).

Ehrenberg Klause (1317) served as a customs and tolls site, in addition to its military function as barrage. Two-thirds of the former Klause are now in ruins, but always reveal new secrets through on-going excavations.

Ehrenberg Castle (1296) offers everything you would expect from a medieval castle, defensive walls, tall towers and a lot of history. The gothic castle complex was home to emperors and kings, princes and tzars. Beginning in 1971, Fridolin Schennach from Reutte took over the condemned ruin and initiated a rescue operation with numerous other idealists.

Schlosskopf Fortress (1741) is the youngest fortress and can be reach the castle via a comfortable hiking trail. The reconquest of Ehrenberg from the Schlosskopf began in 1703. But it was not until 1733 that fortifications were built, which was completed in 1741 according to the latest military knowledge.

Fort Claudia (1645) played an important role in the reconquest of Ehrenberg in 1546. The strategic importance of the mountain crest across from Ehrenberg was long known.
