Internationally renowned activist Tess Harding (Hepburn) happens to write for the same newspaper as every-man, sports writer Sam Craig (Tracy). When she suggests the great American past-time, baseball should be abolished until the end of WWII it sparks an article war between the two of them until calling a truce when they're forced to meet in person. Things immediately take a different course between them based on their mutual attraction. But her remarkable inability to function as any part of the traditional role of wife and mother in their marriage forces him to question and show her he's not so sure she's accurately voted the "Woman of the Year." Tracy and Hepburn's first pairing of the 9 movies they make together. The movie wins best screenplay oscar.
