Allan's 53 KJV Longprimer Review~Crimson Red

Описание к видео Allan's 53 KJV Longprimer Review~Crimson Red

This Allan's 53 Longprimer is my first Allan's bible I bought from Bibles Direct (link below). I class this deceptively small bible as one of my absolute favourite bibles! It is a full sized, full yapp, bible with 10/11pt type, in a beautifully supple crimson red goatskin leather cover. This bible is a reference bible with center column, concordance, maps and lined note paper. It feels wonderful in the hands and is a joy to read from. In this video I also show my new 7C Brevier Clarendon by Allan's briefly by way of comparison. I have a dedicated review video on the 7C Brevier Clarendon, too.    • Allan's Brevier Clarendon 7C~ Navy Bl...

Product Description

A beautiful edition of our signature KJV Longprimer, the Allan 53 NB is bound in Navy Blue Highland goatskin with full yapp and red under gold page edges, leather-lined in dark blue with double gilt lines inside and three crimson red ribbon markers. It includes presentation pages and family record in Allan's exclusive design, along with Oxford's dictionary of proper names, subject index, concordance, 16 pages of Oxford Bible maps and 32 pages of lined writing paper.

First printed in 1952, the King James Version Longprimer Bible is a sumptuous, traditional reference setting of the Authorized Version. Developed by Oxford University Press and now published exclusively by R. L. Allan, it has for many years been our flagship Bible, renowned the world over for its clarity of type and our beautiful bindings.

For our 2016 printing we reverted to a vintage copy of the classic Longprimer, printed in the period 1952-1958 under Charles Batey, then Printer to the University of Oxford, returning to a page image that is much closer to the original intentions of the typesetters. This new-old page image retains the large, clear type of the Longprimer we all know and love, but has a crisper letter form and less of the broken type and 'spread' that mark out much-used letterpress typesettings subsequently transferred to film and, only more recently, to digital scans.
