Material Flow Analysis: How-to Full Tutorial (Short Online Course)

Описание к видео Material Flow Analysis: How-to Full Tutorial (Short Online Course)

In this video you will learn how to carry out a Material Flow Analysis for a city, region or country that will ultimately enable you to do illustrations like these, summarising the material requirements of an economy.

In a previous video we showed what is Material Flow Analysis and what type of insights you can extract from such a study (see link below). I highly encourage you to watch it before continuing so that you have a better grasp of what I will be talking about now.

In essence, Material Flow Analysis is the measurement of flows and stocks of a particular system that can be anything from a country, a city or even a company.

While there are a couple of ways to carry out a Material Flow Analysis, in this video I’ll present to you perhaps the most used approach to measure the flows at the scale of an entire economy (regardless if it’s a national economy or an urban economy).

The method I will present to you today and which I use quite frequently is called an Economy-Wide Material Flow Analysis. This method was originally develop by a group of researchers in the late 1990s, early 2000s. It has known a couple of iterations since then, but it is used at the EU level and the global level through the UN.

I hope this video will be useful in your pursuit of carrying out a Material Flow Analysis. If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
