D.E.C. Episode 72: Interview with Drummer/Educator Ted Morton!
Ted’s passion for music began at an early age. He started out playing piano at the age of five, trumpet at the age of eight, guitar at the age of ten, and then settled into drumming at the age of thirteen.
He plays various musical styles ranging from classical, pop, rock, progressive rock, and Gospel music, and he also likes to teach. His early years in music brought a depth of understanding and a
broad musical foundation that he brings to every situation. Growing up in Southern California, Ted
has played at venues such as The Los Angeles Coliseum, Verizon Amphitheater, Riverside City College Stadium, The Baked Potato, The Coachhouse Concert Hall, Ramona Mainstage, and many others, he’s also recorded in many of the world’s premier studios. Ted has shared the stage with
many notable artists, such as Dave Weckl, The Winery Dogs, Geoff Tate, Brand X,
Uli Jon Roth, John 5, Gary Hoey, Great White, Kings X, and many others. Ted has played with many artists such as Dove Award Winner Crystal Lewis, Christian Country Music Award Winner Dennis Agajanian, Michael Sewell, Jazz rock band Six30jam, San Diego Music Award Winner Steven Cade, Blues Hall of Fame inductee Darrell Mansfield, Grammy Award Winner Steve Camp, Grammy
Nominee Bryan Duncan, Frank Zappa Alumni Mike Keneally, and countless
others.
Ted is the co-founder, drummer, and co-producer of the progressive rock
instrumental band Pet Shark. Their albums feature Guitarist Keith Moreland, and
Matt Bissonette on Bass. Both of their albums have garnered great reviews both in
the United States, and internationally. Ted is also the drummer, co-writer, and co-producer
of the rock band Kings ’n Aces.
