Today (2023, 26 july) is the 80th (!!) birthday from Mick Jagger! A good day to upload the basscover from Honky Tonk Women. There are a lot of tabs (and video’s) from the bassline of this song on the internet, but to be honest: almost none of them are correct. In this video I’ve trancribed the orginal bassline from Bill Wyman. As always Bill leaves a lot of space on his basslines. In this song especially in the first and second Chorus. Starting from the interlude Bill plays more notes and adds more melodic lines in the basspart.

It’s an iconic song and fun to play. I congratulate Mick Jagger with his birthday and I hope he will stay with us for a long long time.

I play this song on a Fender Precision 1976 with flatwound strings. Standard E-A-D-G tuning. Don’t forget to tune your bass quit a bit higher (A4 = 453 Hz).
