Ayodhya is one of the oldest cities of India. Saptapuris are mentioned in Hindu mythology. According to Jains, out of their 24 Tirthankaras, 22 belonged to the Ikshvaku dynasty. Ayodhya city is situated on the banks of Saryu river. Ram temple is being constructed at the birthplace of Ram in Ayodhya city of Uttar Pradesh. The consecration program of Ramlala is to be held in the newly constructed Ram temple on 22 January 2024. The Ramjanmabhoomi site of Ayodhya remained in dispute for years. In 1528, a mosque was built in Ayodhya, which was named Babri Masjid. Hindus have since alleged that the mosque was built at the birthplace of Ram. This issue remained stuck in the courts for years. On 9 November 2019, the Supreme Court gave its verdict to give the entire 2.77 acres of Ram Janmabhoomi land to Ram Lala. After this, on August 5, 2020, PM Narendra Modi performed Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and in this way, with the beginning of the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, many types of development works started in the city. International airport has been built in Ayodhya. A railway station equipped with modern amenities has also been built. Hundreds of trains are also being run for Ayodhya from many areas of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Nagpur, Lucknow, Jammu.
