How to Fill Blank Cells Using Values from Above, Below, Left, or Right in Excel
Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool for data management, but encountering blank cells in your spreadsheet can be a common challenge. Fear not! In this video tutorial, we'll explore efficient techniques to fill those empty cells by utilizing values from the surrounding data—whether above, below, to the left, or to the right. Follow the technique below and you’ll be able to fill empty cell with value from either above, below, left or right. In this example we’ll consider filling value from above cell.

1. Identifying Blank Cells:
Before we dive into the methods, it's crucial to identify the blank cells in your Excel sheet. Navigate through your data and take note of the empty spaces that need to be filled.
Select the data range where you have blank cells
From the Home Tab click on “Find and Select” Dropdown and select “Go to Special” or you can Press F5 on your keyboard and then click on “Special” and this will take you to go to special popup.
Select blanks and then click ok

2. Filling Blank Cells from Above:
Once you have selected all the blank cells;
Check the name box to identify active cell.
Without changing the selection click on the formula bar and write =B2 (this should be the above cell of your active cell)
Now press CTRL + Enter and done all the blank cell is filled with formula and the value will be from corresponding above cell.

3. Using the Paste Special Feature:
Excel's "Paste Special" feature is a handy tool for identifying and working with specific types of cells. Here we’ll use this feature to convert formula to value.
Select the range from where you want to convert formula to value.
Press CTRL + C to copy
Press Ctrl + ALT + V to open the "Paste Special" dialog box.
Click on the "Value" button.
Click "OK."

Now all the cell value is converted from formula. Mastering the art of filling blank cells in Excel can significantly enhance your data management skills. Whether you're dealing with a small dataset or a large spreadsheet, using values from above, below, left, or right ensures accuracy and efficiency in your work.
