Ingredients

One 6oz package Dried Beancurd
2 cloves garlic; minced
1 Tbsp ginger; minced
1 tbsp Anise; ground
1 tsp Clove; ground
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp fennel; ground
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp lemongrass; ground
½ cup tamari
2 tbsp black vinegar
2 tbsp salt
¼ cup cooking oil (sesame, vegetable or soybean)

Directions

Bring 8 quarts of water to a boil, add 2 tablespoons salt to water. Snap dried beancurd in half and add to boiling water, then cook until soft. Drain beancurd and pat dry with a paper towel. Add cooked/dried beancurd to a bowl and add all the spices, tamari and black vinegar. Heat cooking oil on medium, then add spiced beancurd from the bowl. Cook 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the outside is crispy and slightly dry. Remove from the pan and place back in your cleaned spice bowl. Shred with a fork and add over rice or chinese pancakes, in sushi, or stir fry.
