This day trip was a bit of a gamble and a long drive from the south of England in search of steam in the snow. The Southern Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Pacific looked decidedly out of place on the West Coast Mainline and Settle & Carlisle line but nevertheless impressive. Although most of the lying had thawed or had been washed away by rain since a heavy snowfall on the previous Thursday, it was enough to enhance the scenery and make the trip well worthwhile on Saturday the 10th February. The railway video slides are self explanatory so just sit back and enjoy a touch of winter with a steam special included. The Class 57 diesel attached to the rear of the special was 57315.
