This is the eulogy given by Mattilan Winter Martin for Minnesota soldier Virgil Tangborn of Nary, MN who was killed in action on June 14, 1944. He earned a Silver Star for his actions and was buried in a cemetery in Ste. Marie Eglise. He was moved several years later to the American Cemetery in Normandy, just above the ocean from Omaha Beach. In 2013, Matti Martin and her teacher Ron Hustvedt, Jr. (Mr. H.) traveled to Normandy with the Albert H. Small Institute: Sacrifice for Freedom to pay tribute to Mr. Tangborn and all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.
