Thirtieth anniversary footage of the debut of Vehicle Derek/VDSM live at the Boston Grammar School "Rock Night", 26th February 1988 in the main hall of BGS.


This was actually our first ever gig together as a band, and I think for me and Del our first ever time onstage in front of an audience - Adam had been drumming since he was about 12 with his parent's Country and Western band and Jase had been in a covers group called Mr Groovy.


We are playing our own composition called "Vehicle Derek" and the classic "Wild Thing" which all bands ought to play at least once in their lives (but not in a music shop).



We did a load of other songs, but I chose the clips here as they clearly feature the late and much-missed Adam Warne, drummer of Vehicle Derek and only 16 years old at the time.


Anyway, even better than VDSM, there's a clip of gig headliners Centurion doing their version of "Trouble", a fave amongst their local fans which prompted a stage invasion, including most of Vehicle Derek and other local luminaries.

Basically, you had to be there. Not just on the night, but there in the late 80's, over in PE21, preferably with a mullet and cheap baseball boots.
