Day 7 delivered everything Ladakh can throw at a cyclist: thin air at 16,000ft, dusty switchbacks to Lachung La, hypnotic rock temples near Pang, and then a sudden snowstorm sweeping the Mori Plains—all while fixing a failing chain under a plastic tarp. We started from Whiskey Nala, climbed 8km to Lachung La, descended to Pang for food and rest, then pushed across the windswept Mori Plains to Debring as black clouds turned peaks white in minutes. Pure drama. Pure Ladakh.
Route today: Whiskey Nala (16,000ft) → Lachung La (16,616ft) → Pang → Mori Plains → Debring
Distances: 8km climb (Whiskey Nala→Lachung La) | ~19km to Pang | ~42km Pang→Debring (first 4km steep)
Highlights: 7-loop climb profile, Captain Mode memorial, Pang reunion at 15,280ft, 3-part Mori Plains, chain rescue, live snowfall, shepherd camps, brutal crosswinds, Debring stay
Road & weather: Under construction near Whiskey Nala, improved Pang side, long gravel/descent braking, strong sidewinds and dust on Mori Plains
Costs today: Stay Rs300 (Whiskey Nala), breakfast Rs120, lunch Rs140, Debring tent Rs250, dinner Rs100
Network: Jio works at Debring/tower junction (J&K circle/postpaid)
