Row 4: With new needle, pick up elongated stitches on the side of our sock. Total of 12 (14, 16) sts.
At this point you have 54 (62, 72) sts total. 21 (24, 28) instep sts and 33 (38, 44) gusset and heel sts.

Gusset:

Repeat Rows 2 & 3, 3 (4, 5) times - 26 (28, 32) sts.
Repeat Row 2, 4 (5, 6) times - 10 (8, 8) sts.

Cut yarn. Weave through remaining sts, pull tight to close. Weave in ends.

Tip: For the instep sts, you can place whatever pattern you can fit within those stitches for a more customize look.
