Starting your first year of medical school can cause a variety of emotions. For me, it was very exciting, but I was also a little nervous because I was unsure what to expect.

Now being in my third year and reflecting back on my first year of medical school, there are a few tips I'd like to share about what I wish I knew:

1. Take the time you need to fully transition to the rigor of medical school.
2. Learn the fundamentals right the first time to make USMLE Step 1 studying easier.
3. Use outside resources early.
