The exterior of the building is designed to incorporate the image of Kinkakuji Temple floating on a pond and the silhouette of the Kitayama mountain range, and is one of the largest in Japan at approximately 4,700 m2 (10 tennis courts).
It consists of eight areas, including a jungle area, a desert savanna area, and a night flower area where the day and night are reversed.
There are approximately 4,500 types of plants planted, and many of them are exhibited or blooming for the first time in Japan, so you can observe tropical plants all year round in the large greenhouse that is full of things to see.
It is the oldest public botanical garden in Japan, and in 2024, it will mark its 100th anniversary, with various events being held and many people from outside the prefecture visiting and enjoying the gardens.
