Garfield, an overweight orange cat, lives a pampered lifestyle with his beagle dog, Odie, and their owner, Jon Arbuckle. Garfield and Odie rescue him with Otto's help.

Outraged, Jinx pushes them off the train, but she herself gets knocked off by an overpass. Otto saves them and lands them on a net set up by Odie. Roland and Nolan work as guard dogs for Marge, while Jinx works community service under her. At Jon's house, Garfield reconciles with Vic, and Vic moves in with the trio.
