VERSE
“He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:8
EXPLANATION
Blessed be the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This world is temporary, but eternity is everlasting. God has established a spiritual law of sowing and reaping. What we sow today will surely return to us tomorrow. According to Galatians 6:8, those who sow to please the flesh will reap corruption, but those who sow to please the Spirit will reap life everlasting.
Scripture clearly declares this truth. “Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.” Job 4:8. “Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” Genesis 9:6. “He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.” Psalm 7:15. God is not mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
At the same time, God encourages us to sow good seeds. “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.” Ecclesiastes 11:1. Even if we do not immediately see the fruit, the harvest will surely come in God’s perfect time.
There is a story of an old man planting a tree. A king asked him why he planted something whose fruit he might never taste. The old man replied that he was enjoying the fruits planted by his ancestors, and future generations would enjoy the fruits of what he planted. In the same way, our spiritual sowing may bless generations after us.
Abraham sowed in faith. Though he saw only Isaac, God promised descendants like the stars of heaven and the sand of the sea. His faith continues to bless us even today in Christ. The seeds we sow in obedience, sacrifice, prayer, and righteousness will never be wasted.
The Lord Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed.” Matthew 13:31. What looks small now can produce eternal glory. Many times we focus only on seventy or eighty years of earthly life. We struggle for temporary comfort, temporary recognition, temporary gain. But life everlasting is far greater than this short earthly journey.
Heaven has no sorrow, no pain, no suffering. The glory of eternal life is beyond human understanding. When we deny sinful desires, give up harmful habits, wait patiently for God’s answer, and choose obedience over comfort, we are sowing to the Spirit. Though our flesh may not immediately see the reward, heaven records every seed.
Stephen experienced this eternal reality even while on earth. When he was stoned for speaking about Jesus, he was filled with the Holy Ghost. His eyes were opened, and he saw the heavens opened and Jesus standing. Even in suffering, he forgave and committed his spirit to the Lord. That is the reward of sowing in the Spirit.
Beloved, do not be discouraged by present struggles. Every prayer, every sacrifice, every act of obedience is a seed. Sow for eternity. Sow righteousness. Sow faith. Sow love. One day, you will reap life everlasting in the glorious presence of God.
PRAYER
Dear Lord,
Help me to sow to the Spirit and not to the flesh. Let my words, thoughts, and actions please You and the Holy Spirit. Give me patience when I do not see immediate results. Strengthen me to give up wrong habits and worldly distractions. Teach me to live with eternity in view. Fill me with heavenly joy and peace even in the midst of trials. Open my spiritual eyes to see the glory that awaits. I surrender my spirit into Your hands. Lead me daily so that I may reap life everlasting through Your grace. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
