Ramsey Canyon Preserve | 7 Hikes from Easy Peasy to Extreme | Sierra Vista AZ | Huachuca Mountains

Описание к видео Ramsey Canyon Preserve | 7 Hikes from Easy Peasy to Extreme | Sierra Vista AZ | Huachuca Mountains

Enjoy six hikes + a bonus loop hike that begin in the Nature Conservancy’s Ramsey Canyon Preserve, if you can manage to tear yourself out of the Preserve itself! Hikes range from one mile and little elevation gain on nature trails within the Preserve to a steep, almost 12-mile loop up to the Crest Trail and back. All the hikes except the first one eventually leave the Preserve, which is private property, and head into the Miller Peak Wilderness. Ramsey Canyon Preserve is a world-class birding hotspot as well as a great place to hike, and I hope you’ll have the chance to come out and see it for yourself.

DIRECTIONS to the Preserve: From Sierra Vista head south on Highway 92 and turn west on Ramsey Canyon Road. Watch out for deer! The road dead ends at the Preserve’s parking lot about 3.5 miles up the road. No dogs are allowed, and there’s a fee to enter. Pick up Hamburg Trail about ¼ mile past the visitor center.

Consider picking up Leonard Taylor's “Trails of the Huachucas” trail guide and map if you hike in the Huachucas. In addition to directions to the trail and trail details, it provides historical and geographical information that adds to your knowledge of this area. It's a gem! You can get it at the Ramsey Canyon Preserve's gift shop, the Sierra Vista Ranger District office off of Highway 92 just south of Sierra Vista, on Amazon or at various other places.
