Is The 5800X3D Really Worth It?

In this video, the second in our "Is It Worth It?" series, we are going to look at upgrading an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x to the Ryzen 7 5800x3D, widely considered the prior generation king of gaming CPU’s. Our "Is It Worth It?" series is focused on showing you just how much you can expect to increase the performance of your system with a drop-in upgrade. One of the biggest challenges with upgrades is that they can rapidly spiral out of control if you are not careful ... you start with good intentions but rapidly find yourself rebuilding your entire machine ... that has happened to me way too many times to count. So for this series we are going to limit the upgrade to only one component ... no major generational upgrades that would require multiple components to be changed will be allowed.

The system being upgraded today is one of my own personal systems originally built by Falcon Northwest. The system was built with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x in the system, which is a great prior gen CPU from AMD. One question I see a lot with AM4 based systems is whether you should upgrade to a 5800x3D chip. It's an easy answer coming from a lower end chip but what about a 5900x? In this video we are going to answer the question "Is The 5800X3D Really Worth It?"

As you will see in the video, it's really not rocket science, it's Lego … my goal is to help you make the right component choices and put them together the right way, every time.
