The Oculus, designed by renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, is a breathtaking transportation hub and architectural icon in New York City. Located at the World Trade Center, it was completed in 2016 and cost $4 billion, making it one of the most expensive train stations ever built.

Inspired by the image of a dove taking flight, the structure’s striking white steel ribs form a futuristic and symbolic design, signifying peace and hope. Its skylight, called the “oculus,” opens each September 11th to let in a beam of light, honoring the memory of 9/11.
