2024.08.08 - When I started gathering Biomass data, I immediately saw a trend related to rice yield. I ruminated a few days then documented the relationship between an older yield factor and a new one.

Derivation of new Yield Ye and Yc using Biomass data from several samples..

Estimate Yield Ye is proportional to Biomass times Area therefore;
Ye = m*Biomass*Area
Biomass = mass in kg per sq.m.
m = coefficient derived from mass of spikelet mass / total biomass sample per sq.m
Area is in square metre

Corrected Yield Yc is proportional to m*Biomass*Area Ye therefore;
Yc = k*Ye
k coefficient is derived from previous Estimate versus Actual yield data therefore;
Yc = k * m * Biomass * Area where;
k = 0.4575 or close to 1/2
m = 0.25 or 1/4
h = k * m
h = 0.1144
or h= 1/4 * 1/2 = 1/8 = 0.125
Area in square metre
Yc = h * Biomass * Area

Thus revised for clarity as;
Yc = 0.1144 * Biomass * Area
or
Yc = 1/8 * Biomass * Area

Example of Calculating Yc
Manga 15000 sq.m
Biomass = 4 kg where; it is the average of 2 samples
Yc = 0.1144 * 4 * 15000 = 6840 Kg
or
Yc = 1/8 * 4 * 15000 = 7500 Kg

Actual = 7800 kg
Caveat, please note Yc is not exactly the actual yield, just close to it so it is useful for other purposes. In this example the difference is around 1 ton for h=0.1144 and 300 kg for h=1/8.
I suppose 0.1144 to 0.125 is the range for h coefficient

Note that it is easier to simply cut 25 rice hill at the root then scale the hill masses as oppose to extracting the spikelet directly. Moving forward, scaling the biomass is a lot easier than extracting the spikelet directly, although I will continue gathering data until satisfied

Also coefficient m will be revised as more data are accumulated and aggregated. I hope someday a student will create a thesis based from these data

One needs to have an idea of the yield so that one can request more trucks to be present to carry the bags of rice to rice dryer or mills so it is more about budgeting transport.
