On The Backs Of Angels by Dream Theater - Pro Drums 100% FC

Mike Mangini!!!!! This took me... 13 years... Ever since I heard Dream Theater's new sound with Mangini instead of Portnoy, I distinctly remember how powerful and mighty this song was for the band in 2011. I was 15 when I first heard it and started practicing it but some of these fills are so complex and rhythmically advanced. Mangini loves his odd time signatures but to incorporate his incredibly fast one handed patterns while also carrying the alternating down beats is so fascinating :)

As to this Harmonix chart, unfortunately, even though the entirety of the piece is here, the actual chart to this official DLC is underwhelming and undercharted considerably. Even when Rock Band was producing 2x Bass Pedal tracks around this time (2011) they continued to only produce them in RBN and dumbed down the official DLC... As they did to literally every other Dream Theater song in the game. Now to be fair Mike Mangini's kit is probably triple the size of my 4 pad 4 cymbal kit and Harmonix can only use the 8 different notes and combinations... But we're missing a ton of ghost note accents, plenty of double bass (especially after Chorus 2)... The intro was strong and somewhat accurate to the legitimate song but, as harmonix goes, it seems that they didn't put as much effort into the ending as much as Mangini's genius shows

Still this was, in my opinion, a strong achievement to finally complete perfectly... but god Mangini is a beast :) Always loved this Berklee band!!!
