Discovery of Concealed Firearm Leads to Ongoing Investigation in Region 7.

On Sunday, December 24th, 2023, around 13:45 hrs, two dedicated police officers from Regional Division #7 responded to a reported incident of alleged wounding. During their response, the officers encountered a man walking on the Morowah Trail, carrying a suspicious white 'salt bag.'

Upon noticing the police presence, the individual hastily fled into nearby bushes. Responding promptly, the officers pursued the suspect, resulting in the man dropping the bag and successfully evading capture within the dense vegetation.

Upon inspection of the discarded bag, the officers uncovered one 12-gauge shotgun along with eight 12-gauge cartridges. Disturbingly, both the serial number and the maker's name on the firearm had been deliberately filed off, raising concerns about the weapon's origin and legality.

Despite extensive efforts to locate the suspect in the dense terrain, the officers were unable to apprehend the individual. The seized firearm and ammunition have been safely secured and lodged at the police station.
