Hello Students!
Greetings from me !
I’m Divyalakshmi
Welcome to your two minutes class
Today we are going to learn about chapter 2
Improve your connectivity
This chapter is all about why English in workplace and soft skills are important.
First let us learn about soft skills:
Soft skills are a combination of people skills, social skills, communication skills, character or personality traits, attitudes, career attributes, social intelligence and emotional intelligence quotients, among others.
Soft skills include adaptability, attitude, communication, creative thinking, work ethic, teamwork, networking, decision making, positivity, time management, motivation, flexibility, problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution.
Now let us look why soft skills are important in workplace?
Soft skills are an essential part of finding, attracting, and retaining clients in a workplace. Highly-developed presentation skills, networking abilities, and etiquette awareness can help you win in your workplace.
So the need to teach soft skills to people has become a major concern for educators from all over the world.
In the text you have got 2 main soft skills
Number one Frankness matters
And number two honesty matters
Now Let us discuss some points about frankness matters.
Whether in an exam, interview, or life itself, we may not always have answers to all questions. At that time, we get panicked. Yet we search for answer. It is good. But then we refuse to admit that we don’t know, and proceed to fudge.
In a written exam, it is possible to fudge but in a face-to-face situation, or in an interview, it is not recommended.
It is good confess, that we don’t have answers to all questions in an examination, interview, and life.
Now Let us discuss some points about honesty matters?
As we know, Every field of knowledge is vast and complex, and one cannot know everything; nor is someone at the entry level expected to have such knowledge. So while facing an interview, it is important to be aware of what you can speak of with confidence, and what you are not too comfortable talking about.
When facing questions of such kind you should be able to graciously admit that you don’t know, or are not too sure.
Not knowing the answer and you tend to fake your knowledge you might end up making it worse. So, instead, a simple “I’m afraid I don’t know” could save you from misery and embarrassment.
Being able to say that you don’t know requires confidence and humility.
Thank you
