Ford Fiesta wheel nut/lug - removal

Update: Since doing this I have seen someone jam a screwdriver through the cap and wrench the thin metal casing off - might be quicker. It's not pretty but it seemed to work.

Anyway...

I needed to remove the wheel but the lugs had deformed through swelling and the 19 mm socket no longer fit.

Instead of hammering a socket on it or using an oversized socket I used a 25 mm holesaw to remove the damaged 19 mm casing exposing the undamaged hex head underneath.

I used an 18 mm socket to undo that and job done.

Ford lugs (amongst others) are notorious for swelling and deforming so they're difficult to remove. This is one way. I saw some other guy had done it, I'm not being original but sharing it wider.

*Absolutely make sure you check your lugs for damage afterwards if you intend to re-use them*
