2022 KTM 450SXF First Ride

Quick ride on my buddy Dave's new 2022 KTM 450SXF. Not many changes specification wise to however the orange frame makes the 2022 SXF models look so much better! Still has that super smoother and easy to ride 450 engine with (2) maps to choose from (stock or aggressive) along with Traction Control which smoothes each map out a little. These bikes come with more aggressive throttle cams along with vented air box covers for a quick power feel. This 450SXF had the myHusqvarna connectivity unit on the bike (yes the Husky unit works on the KTM!). Selecting the Sand/Dry track base map we dialed in a little more throttle response and minimized engine braking. This revised EFI mapping gives the 450SXF a lmore ively engine response and the reduced engine braking frees up the bike going into corners. Nice to be able to dial in engine character. The Akrapovic slip on muffler is quieter and lighter than the stock muffler.

The suspension (heavily updated in 21 model year) is very good out of the box and responds well to clicker (and fork air pressure) changes so it can be dialed in for a wide range of rider weights/skills and track conditions.

The erog's are thin and the bike feels light and agile in motion. The KTM 450SXF is perhaps the easiest of the 450's to ride with smooth broad power and lightweight. With the myKTM connectivity unit it has the added versatility of dialing in the power character. Very fun bike!
