This video highlights the true costs of creating an AI short film, a topic rarely discussed. It's from the perspective of someone who is an independent filmmaker/hobbyist, so just a single individual trying to tell an entire story. I'll highlight every service I use and the expected subscription plans required to ensure you work efficiently. AI has allowed me to tell stories and I'm grateful for it. Hybrid approaches of human and AI should still exist where people are employed, but as an individual, I use AI to help augment my creativity so I can tell an entire story just by myself. It personally brings some joy to my troubled mind. The public will obviously have strong opinions about this. This is focused on using online services and not open source being run locally on your pc that can make costs cheaper.

Total real cost is usually around $430, that's usually how much it would cost me if I wasn't part of creative partner programs BUT this amount can drastically fluctuate depending on your needs.

It can be somewhat cheaper if you use open source and learn comfy UI to run AI locally on your pc (however you need to use money to buy a powerful GPU to work efficiently, especially when generating videos), or it can become a lot more expensive if you create employment for humans and hire them as a part of your process, creating a hybrid approach to AI film making. If you are working as a team and can afford to employ a human to do scripting, images etc, we should still focus on creating jobs for humans.

This video is not meant to discourage but just have an open discussion about how AI is changing how media is being created. As an individual, AI allows me to tell full stories now. Enjoy!
