this is a Valor paraffin heater from c. 1920's. I bought it from an antique store and have done a basic restore on it, which involved replacing the original wick that was stuck inside the heater.
this is very similar to the Perfection 525 heater. Valor is the English version, and also popular in Australia before electricity was available in homes from 1900-1940.
some people use them these days as backup heaters if the grid goes down.
