When we entered into 'The Cathedral' space at Grotte De Lombrives, I don't believe any of us were prepared for its majestic power and beauty. With heights reaching up to 350 feet, it is larger than the sanctuary of the cathedral in Notre Dame and was long a sacred site of the Cathars, a mystical culture of profoundly wise and devoted spiritualists who once lived in South France where they thrived, inspiring many to beautiful lives of soulful living. Legend has it that even Hercules' lover, Pyrenes, is buried in Lombrives and that even the Holy Grail harboured here for a time...

The acoustics of the space were unlike anything I have ever encountered. Hearing the power of our voices and songs amplified into wonderful beauty through the natural reverberation was deeply enchanting. I felt like I could have sang their for days, truly, and I wondered if perhaps ancestral memories were being activated in me. I felt home in a sense that I'd never felt. It was mysterious and immensely beautiful.

We set up our instruments, prepared our souls by intending to sing with the spirits of the caves, especially the Cathars, who were eventually brutally wiped out by the Church's malevolence in one of the largest and primarily unknown genocides in Europe during the 12th century. The song that came through me was particularly moving for me to channel. I have never sung like that before and I drifted into different dimensions as I soared with my voice. It was an experience I will never forget. May the spirits of the Cathars and ancient Europa be rekindled!
