Star Wars: Planet Jakku Diorama

Описание к видео Star Wars: Planet Jakku Diorama

As I mentioned in my previous video this diorama project was not my priority as the contest was open and didn’t specify any rule. So when I finished building the Millennium Falcon and saw I had some time before the deadline I said why not. The idea was there as I wanted to recreate a movie scene from the Force Awakens movie (AKA episode 7) when Rey and Finn are attacked and pursuit by the First Order and they had to steal the Millennium Falcon to escape the planet Jakku.

The sand dunes were kinda challenging but I couldn’t replicate the Star Destroyer debris that are present on the planet as a spaceship graveyard so I had to improvise a little. And due to the head of the base that is holding the Millennium Falcon I had to inverse the position. It was an easy job and I submitted it before the deadline. But when the owner of the hobby shop suggested that I should add some details to the desert surface and I told him that is not possible since that day was the deadline he said I can do it right there in the shop. I didn’t like the idea and felt like I was cheating or something but he assured me it was cool (he was one of the judges after all) so I added the extra details but at the same time I couldn’t get it on camera so you have to forgive me for that.

I have to mention an incident that occurred on the day that we (the participants) were receiving our trophies as the Millennium Falcon fell on the ground and the area that took the point of impact was broken. Fortunately this happened after we all took photos with our projects and I always take photos and videos of my projects before submitting them. And I only have myself to blame as I accidently touched it in a way that made the Millennium Falcon fall off the diorama one meter above the ground.

The Good news is that the point of impact was exactly where the Millennium Falcon rested on the diorama surface so as long as it stays on the diorama it can be completely covered up with the dust effect. The bad news is that I don’t know if it can be repaired therefore it might end up staying on the diorama forever. Not to mention that there are some tiny parts that are few off and we couldn’t find them to this day but it is not really noticeable.
