A NOTE FROM WENDY
Hello fellow journeyers. Thanks for finding your way here. This song depicts the point in the Persephone myth where, after her abduction by Hades, (the God of the Underworld), the maiden Kore (soon to become Persephone), first finds herself in the Underworld.

I shot this footage during a pilgrimage to Greece in 2018. All locations relate mythologically to the Underworld. The opening sequence features the Acheron river (on the West Coast of Greece) - one of the mythological rivers of the Underworld. The river reeds line its banks as reaches the end of its journey toward the sea. We then are taken to the clear waters closer to the river's source, in Glyki. The small creek, lined with willows, is actually the river Cocytus - another river of the Underworld in Greek mythology.

You'll also see some footage of a small cave, known as the Plutoneon, which I recorded at the sacred sanctuary of Eleusis, the centre of the workship of Persephone and her mother, the Goddess Demeter. This cave, in some tellings of the myth, is an opening into the Underworld.

The footage of the vaulted chamber was taken at the sanctuary of the Nekromanteon, near the Acheron river in Western Greece. This sanctuary was sacred to Persephone and Hades for millennia. This footage is especially relevant because is was shot on the Scorpio Dark Moon - can't get more Underworld than that!
