Payung Teduh was formed in late 2007 with its original lineup consisting of Is (vocals, guitarist), and Comi (upright bass). In 2008, they invited Cito to join as a drummer and Ivan as a player of the "gitarlele" and trumpet. In 2010, Payung Teduh decided to create their first indie album. "Angin Pujaan Hujan" was the first song that showcased their musical style.

At the end of 2017, Mohammad Istiqamah Djamad (Is) decided to part ways with Payung Teduh as he no longer felt aligned with the band. In late 2022, Mohammad Istiqamah Djamad (Is) decided to rejoin the band that had made his name, and the band Payung Teduh changed its name to Parade Hujan.
