Populism is a movement that began in Russia with the educated elites who used its tenants to recruit peasant farmers to their cause. In America, it began with the People's Party, later incorporated into the Democratic Party. The populist People's Party is responsible for originating many of the rights that workers in the U.S. benefit from today.
