I'm a data analyst and ecological psychologist (human-environment interaction). In this video I build on Orion Kelly's claims about common ways to spot autistic adults. Orion's video was good but there was a lot more to say, and some areas where specificity was required.

Spotting autism in adults is generally really difficult to do, primarily because us adults have already had heck of a lot of living. This living brings complexity to adult diagnoses because we have already had so many happy and sad times, trauma and joy, elation and deflation, and more! This complexity can muddy the waters, and it can be difficult to tell whether a trauma has made someone "autistic presenting", or if the autism came first.

So when it comes to trying to understand ourselves and others, do it carefully and without judgment. And, most of all, don't make any firm decisions about yourself or someone else without first speaking to professionals and seeking a diagnosis from sufficiently accredited people.
