I started drumming in 1984 and the ideas and suggestions I've put forward are gifts that I know, as a drummer, I would appreciate receiving.

If you are a drummer, you can share this video with your significant other, friends and family (and band mates?) so that they can find out the type of gifts you might like.

It can be difficult choosing presents for drummers as we are "quite particular" about the equipment we use. Drum sticks are great gifts for drummers, but you need to make sure you get the right size and make of stick. In this video I explain about choosing drum sticks and why you should avoid buying cheap, brightly coloured drum sticks.

This video is organised from small gifts such as drum keys, personalised drummer gifts, unique and special gifts all the way up to acoustic and electric drum kits. Some of the ideas you may have already thought of, but I've included others that I hope will inspire you.

At the end of the video I give my opinion on buying drum kits: If you're looking for a gift for a junior drummer buying a junior drum kit online could be worthwhile. However, as a drummer I can safely say that there's nothing quite like walking into a drum shop and experiencing the kits up close. I personally would not buy a drum kit online partly because of my concerns about quality and delivery but also because I believe that the drum shops that still exist, deserve support.

There may be some gifts that you can only find online, but if you have a local drum shop I urge you to speak to them, see if they can help you and buy from them if you can.

This video contains approximately thirty ideas for gifts for drummers, but the companion PDF I've created contains around ninety! I hadn't intended for there to be so many, but once I got into it there were gifts that I simply couldn't leave out. I haven't listed every book, CD or DVD (in fact, as I'm writing this I've realised that I didn't mention drumming DVDs in this video! Apologies - they are included in my PDF though).
