Chapter One: “The Broken Voice”

Shaken, terrified, and unable to reconcile this order with his oath, Caelan seeks clarity—only to find the Light has gone silent. Even worse, Sister Maeryn reveals she too received a corrupted vision months before. Something ancient is manipulating divine channels, twisting holy messages into blasphemous echoes.
With dawn approaching and the High Justicar expecting answers, Caelan faces an impossible choice: obey a command that violates everything he stands for, or defy the god he has devoted his life to serving.
When the Light lies, one heart will hear the truth.
This is where Caelan’s story begins.

In The Oathbound Paradox,
Caelan Dawnspear is the finest paladin of the Radiant Tribunal—sworn to protect the innocent, uphold justice, and obey the divine will of Solyn, Light of Judgment. But during a nightly prayer, everything shatters. Solyn’s voice breaks, twisting with something darker, and commands Caelan to do the unthinkable:

“Execute the Oracle of Emberfall.”

The Oracle is innocent. She’s the living conduit of the gods, the woman Caelan swore to protect with his life. Obeying the order would break every oath he’s ever taken. Refusing it may brand him heretic and traitor… or worse, reveal that something is terribly wrong with the Light itself.

As divine visions fracture, holy magic falters, and paladins across the realm receive contradictory commands, Caelan is forced onto a dangerous path. Joined by a sharp-tongued fellow paladin, a cynical ranger, a fiery young sorcerer, a weary cleric-smith, and a barbarian whose people worship a forgotten god of Truth, Caelan uncovers a buried secret:

👉 The Radiant Tribunal’s sacred oath was built on a lie.
👉 An exiled god—Nullstar—is chained in the sky, silenced for refusing an unjust decree.
👉 And the entire faith that shaped Caelan’s life may be a weapon turned against its own believers.

Now Caelan must decide what it really means to “serve the light”: blind obedience to a broken command, or choosing justice even if it means defying gods, order, and destiny itself.
