Step right up and meet Lauren Bergquist of Orlando Florida!

In one word, Lauren is passionate.

Whether it comes to stalking her favorite country music stars, or preparing for a World Championship Swimming event, Lauren is “ALL IN” with whatever she is doing.

This has been made especially challenging because in addition to Down syndrome, Lauren had open heart surgery as a baby to repair a large hole in her heart.

Then at the age of 11 she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Managing her sugar while swimming, traveling and competing has been very challenging. But Lauren has had big goals and is game for living life to the fullest.

Her hard work and dedication paid off in 2019 when she set three Americas Region long course records, one in breaststroke, two in butterfly.

Lauren also won 2 individual bronze medals in the butterfly and a bronze relay medal with Katya, Maggie and Allison at the DSISO European Open, in Sardinia, Italy.

Lauren is a member of @bdwinterpark and is coached by Joe Auer. Lauren is back in the water preparing for the next opportunity to compete on the world stage.
