RHODES GREECE - EXPLORING OLD TOWN RODOS (4k)

🇬🇷WE TRAVELLED TO RHODES ISLAND IN GREECE FOR 4 NIGHTS AND 5 DAYS AT THE BEGINNING OF APRIL 2023 - WE STAYED IN RHODES TOWN AT THE MITSIS GRAND HOTEL AND TOOK A DAY TRIP TO LINDOS AND PACKED IN LOTS MORE IN AND AROUND THE NEW AND OLD TOWN OF RHODES DURING OUR STAY 🇬🇷


I booked a package deal through Easyjet from Bristol to Rhodes last year for 4 nights at the 5* Mitsis Grand hotel near Elli beach in Rhodes town. For flights, bags, transfers and all inclusive hotel it costs me around £750 for myself and my 13 year old son (i booked last year) - we dont normally opt for all inclusive but the cost was too good to miss and meant i saved money. We absolutely loved this trip and really want to go back in the warmer months so we can island hop and expreience swimming in beautiful Lindos and walking around the old town at night....we will be back one day

Day 5
Our last day in Rhodes before being collected from our hotel in Rhodes town at around 5pm to take us to the airport to fly back to the UK. We packed all our things up early then headed to the old town for a last wander around. We decided to go to the archaeological museum - next to the Streets Of The Knights - we both loved walking around this museum which used to be the hospital of the knights and was constructed in 1489 by the Grand Master d'Aubusson. In what used to be the wards, you can see funerary plaques when the island was administered by the Knights (14th - 16th centuries) as well as heraldic crests. Definitely worth a visit! We walked over to Hyppocrates square which has a beautiful fountain in the centre and many rooftop bars and restaurants. I wanted to go to the Cellar Of The Knights which is a wine shop on the square and in the warmer months, you can purchase glasses of wine to drink on the steps above and they even provide cushions! Which I'd imagine would be great early evening in the summer months - it was open but no one was drinking wine on the steps. Next to the shop, we spotted Hansel & Gretel ice cream parlor and had to buy some ice cream! Oliver chose a waffle ice cream while I chose a chimney cake ice cream both really nice but quite pricey - I think 12 euros?! We sat on the steps above watching all the restaurateurs trying to coax people into having food - this was the only area that we noticed this which put us off eating there later on. We had lunch at Sarris restaurant near the square but along the back streets and we had a wonderful meal and affordable prices too. Then, we started to head back to our hotel slowly through the new town and popped into some shops and bought some souvenirs - this is when we spotted the bus terminal! Right in the centre and it's more like a square with a bus stop in the middle but good to know for next time. Both of us definitely want to go back but in June or September when the weather is more predictable and the sea warmer plus, more bars etc will be open....including the clock tower!! Our hotel - Mitsis Grand, was perfectly placed for both new and old town and it never felt too far away from anything. We loved walking up and around Elli beach and towards the harbour and entering the old town that way. We loved Lindos and would want to go back there again too in the summer months.
