So the Scottish, by way of Canada, sibling duo of Boards of Canada is a "Band" I have been meaning to get on the docket far sooner than I have managed to make happen sadly. This was one that I truly didn't want to do on my own, however, finding the right person(s) to work with me on such an important catalog of music had proven elusive. I had one or two people in mind for quite a while, but timing, scheduling, and friendship difficulties seemed to thwart me, until recently when it dawned on me that one person I hadn't thought of was the perfect person all along to ask to collaborate with me on this one, and that person is my long time friend Melinda (she does not have any social media that she openly wants to share and I respect that). Melinda has the same reverence for this projects output that I do, and that was paramount for me.

Boards are kind of hard to explain, they are timeless in many ways, yet completely anachronistic in their sound and the gear they use, except they could really only have come out with their unique style/sound in the digital age. Despite sounding like they owe much of their uniqueness to the golden age of electronic music from the analog synths and equipment of the 70's, they were very contemporary in the late 90's and early 2000's, but spent much of their public career shunning the music press and media most of the time, and in fact have somewhat very purposely avoided success in most conventional ways.

Suffice it to say if you like old 70's synth and electronic music, trip hop/hip hop beats, old 70's public access TV shows, sampling technology, and nostalgia for the seemingly simpler times (newsflash, they really weren't better or easier in most ways) of the 60's and 70's, you might really love Boards of Canada as much as Melinda and I do!! So come check this one out, because it will be a tour de force of both of us marveling at the stellar music that BoC has bestowed upon us ... Not to mention it's been 10 years since their last album was released, and there has been speculation that a new album may finally drop this year (to be fair there is speculation every year about this topic, and it always ends up just that, speculation)
