Hubbard's Cubbard was Joe Hubbard's first record recorded in London in 1983. At the time, Hubbard was the resident bassist in the well-known British Jazz Funk band Morrisey/Mullen who were signed to Beggars Banquet Records. Nick Austin (owner of Beggars Banquet) had been very interested in Hubbard's Cubbard and when when Joe Hubbard was chosen to join Gary Numan's band in 1983, Nick Austin exclaimed,"Now I can sell this record." As a consequence, Hubbard's Cubbard, including a cast of top London session musicians with the aide of up and coming record producer/arranger Richard Niles, recorded their first record (including mixing) in 3-days!!! This is a track from the album entilted, Songs From the Heart of a Boy, written by Richard Niles which features Guy Barker on trumpet and Chris Hunter from the Gil Evans Orchestra on tenor sax. Sit back and enjoy the sounds of this cutting edge fusion band who were heralded as The Brecker Brothers of the UK, which was all about music for the sake of music!
