There's this great quote by Steve Jobs where he talks about not being able to connect the dots without looking backwards.

While there's a stigma around looking back - and not living in the moment - the truth is that sometimes the answers we're looking for are in the past.

If you think on it long enough, I'm sure you can find little crumbs of wisdom in the choices you made in the past. Upon reflection, everything we've ever done makes sense at a certain point in time, as long as we can remain optimistic and opportunistic.

Even the biggest mistakes of our lives can easily become our greatest assets - sometimes it just requires a reframe.
