In this video I’ll share my opinions on what the California EDD expects in terms of reporting earnings, income or wages when you return work and need to cancel your unemployment as well as how to report reduced hours and self employment if you’re driving for Uber, Lyft, delivering for Postmates or earning money from YouTube. I also talk a little bit about why I think it’s a good idea to go back to work even if your employer brings you back at reduced hours.

It appears to me that you tell the EDD that you don’t need unemployment anymore and want to cancel your claim by reporting that you have returned to work when you certify online for benefits or by mailing back the continued claim form (certify for benefits by mail).

If you need to report reduced hours/income, you will also do that when certifying for benefits through your UI Online account or by returning the continued claim form.

If you are self employed, a gig worker or a independent contractor, and need to report earnings, income or wages you will also do that when you certify for EDD unemployment wages using UI Online or when you mail in the continued claim form.
