Recent statistics from the WHO/ILO clearly show that adverse health events are the greatest cause of death and disease in the workplace(1) with diseases accounting for 80.7% of reported deaths. In a previous ICOH SCAP/IOSH webinar in 2022 the investigation of occupational diseases and other adverse health events in the workplace was explored. Panellists identified the need to empower OSH professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively investigate an adverse health event for the purpose of establishing and addressing the root cause.

Hosted by Dr Karen Michell of IOSH, this webinar will provide insights and learnings for how to investigate these adverse health events.

Joining the panel are, Dr Odette Volmink from The National Institute for Occupational Health South Africa, Alex Wilson, from Johnson Matthey; and current BOHS President and finally, Dr Rajiv Jain from Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA); and ICOH SCETOH Member.

The panel, with the help of Karen, will provide valuable guidance to enable participants to apply the steps of incident investigation to an adverse health event in the workplace with the intent of identifying root causes and recommendations for corrective action.
