This Final Mission of this game starts off a bit more unusually.
Your character is carefully dropped down into a deep shaft while shooting away at any Rebels that get in their way.
Just one more secret base of these Rebels, here, but it continues to feel like this isn't of their own creation...
Then you fight the rest of the way foot through even more hoards of Rebels. Some of them are wearing dark blue fatigues instead of their usual green, and then they get more frequent later.
----
And then... you run into General Morden again and quickly fill him with bullets, only to turn out to be... A ROBOT?!
And then you fight even more of them after this! Just also make sure to rescue the POWs you find along the way. One of the hostages is one again the President. "HI!".
----------
Much later, you once again duel against that damned Allen O'Neil. He just CANNOT stay dead, can he?!
But then you kill him THIS TIME... only for him to turn out to be yet another robot clone, just like those Mordens from before.
What the hell is going on here?!
----------
Well then, with the final boss, I'll explain:
The real masterminds behind this game's story are the Amadeus Syndicate, led by a man known only as the Doctor. They have collaborated with the Rebel Army to use their soldiers to test out of their highly advanced weaponry, a lot of which were bosses throughout this game. This series of events became known as the White Baby Crisis.
----
The Doctor will go through different Mother Computers throughout this final fight, starting with the blue Type α Mother Computer, which can fire loads of rockets and slow-moving energy balls.
The second phase is against the Doctor's pink Type β Mother Computer, which has vulcan cannons, a buzzsaw, satelite blasters, and its own set of rockets.
----
The third... and final phase is against the Doctor's central machine. This form has very tricky sets of lasers to dodge.
Some lasers able straight down, others will fire at you diagonally, and then you'll have to dodge them while ALSO watching out for a shockwave from the background.
Some lasers are pick scattershots that ricochet off the edges of the screen.
Then there are the horizontal lasers. If they fire away early, you dodge them by crouching. If they fire away too late, you have to jump over those shots.
Like every other boss before this one, just keep shooting at it until it blows up!
----------
And when the boss does blow up, he takes his whole Secret Place with him! Tarma will need you to catch up with him towards the way out!
The special thing about this, however, is by that point, you've already beaten the game. You just now have to kinda "choose" how it ends, and I show off both in this video:
If you fail to outrun the explosion trailing behind you. You get a rather underwhelming ending. Your character barely survives the destruction, and does make it home, but they've gotten so hurt that they're stuck in a hospital. All Tarma & Eri could do for them is bring them some food to cheer them up. At least Nadia surely does!
However, if you do manage to outrun the explosion, Eri will be waiting to pick you up in the next room, and then you complete the Final Mission in one piece. From there, Marco, Fio, Trevor and Nadia celebrate with a fantastic feast by Eri & Tarma (likely the same food they bring to you in the bad ending). The four playable characters eat so much so fast that they quickly get one last case of "W-WHOOOOA, BIG!"

Thanks for watching my playthrough of Metal Slug 4.
This game had a rather unusual development due to the state of SNK at the time (it went bankrupt!), but the South Korean team did manage to make a decent sequel while a new era was trying to emerge from its ashes.
Things pick up a bit more with SNK in time for this game's own sequel. Stay tuned for that!
